So I arrive home today to find a surprise in my mailbox. My Dave Barnes "Me and You and the World" cd package was delivered 3 days early!! The album release date isn't until April 1st. I'm calling it an early birthday present since my bday is in exactly one week.

I watched the behind the scenes dvd that came in the pre-order package, and it is a hoot. Barnes is a funny man. Plus it's cool to see a little of the recording process. I haven't picked a favorite song on the new album yet. "Until You" & "On a Night Like This" are on the cd again remastered, and "OANLT" has some extra lyrics worked in so it's 3 mins plus now. I'm liking "When a Heart Breaks" but it's to early to pick a front runner.

David Cook is my favorite American Idol. He auditioned in Omaha, NE so I was a fan in the beginning obviously. He's from the midwest. Then I found out he graduated two years ago from CMSU....I was there in 2005 for a concert featuring Aslyn, Ingram Hill, Michael Tolcher & Gavin DeGraw. It's a small world after all. I don't vote, so I hope he does well in the competition. If you do, send a vote his way. :)

Gavin DeGraw's new self-titled cd release date has been moved to May 6th. The video for "In Love with a Girl" is set to be out in late March/early April, but you can pick up the single "In Love with a Girl" now on iTunes. Gavin's been touring a few towns in the US recently. His sister Neeka wrote a great review for his show @ the Paradise Lounge in Boston - 03.01.08. It's a good read. : )

Lady Antebellum released the cover for their debut album coming out April 15th. I couldn't be more excited to see what songs will be featured on the cd. They have a bunch of great tunes worthy of making the tracklist. The trio was also nominated for an ACM award in the New Duo or Group category. The three-hour ACM Awards show will air live on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 18th.

If you've read some of my earlier posts, I've talked about my love for the music in the movie Once. Well the two main actors in the film were awarded an O-S-C-A-R [hence the title for this blog] for Best Original Song @ the Academy Awards!! It was a great moment, they totally deserved it. Their thank you speeches were great too. Here is a video of them performing "Falling Slowly" @ the Oscars:
